DEMO PLAY: WTC: Love's Labors Lost

Well, that's a LOT of content!

Okay, let's get the formalities out of the way - I have a conflict of interest with this visual novel series as I do occasionally test for Triority Interactive.  Does that make me overly kind to it?  HAAAAAA-HAHA-HA-HA.

No.

Not even close.  Triority isn't that lucky.

So let's start with the problems - there's some minor graphical issues, mainly the bottom of the text *just slightly* squeezing over the lip of the text box.  Whilst most of the art is decent (and some scenes are quite impressive) there are a few odd moments with weird fingers or slightly off character positioning.

That said, there's plenty more that deserves praise.  This has been created by an incredibly small team.  Basically, one person bringing in people as needed and doing as much as possible on their own.  WTC games are very much in the spirit of bedroom development.  Does that make it bad?  No, though it doesn't automatically make them good either.

Whether you will enjoy the hijinx of Grendel, a super-rich kleptomaniac with a sad past and a frankly tragic home life, is dependent on your sense of humour.  This is a comedy game series and comedy is entirely subjective.  If you ironically giggle at 'Boomer Humour' you should enjoy Grendel's antics and the exasperated damage limitation efforts of her unwilling partner in crime - YOU.

While the WTC series chronicles the ongoing efforts by a group of Bond villains if they were reasonably successful versus a Bond-like character with zero budget and their duplicitous team-mates, this particular entry focuses on Grendel Jinx's past love-life and uses the previous world-building as a backdrop.  It gets a bit moe, as the weaboo's say, but makes her a rather sympathetic character.

Your patience for the huge amount of text and the comedy may vary but technically, WTC's a perfectly serviceable visual novel with a nice clean interface, lots of replayabilty and a huge leap in art compared to previous entries, including some good use of cgi.

Emotionally though, it's a game about a lonely young woman learning about the give and take of relationships, and the trauma of grief.
